With that in mind, it’s no wonder why I couldn’t just abandon GNS3 and move over to EVE-NG to start again, so what better way than to just use both of them? I’ve been a GNS3 user for approximately 5 years and within that time i’ve invested a lot of time into creating networks and re-usable environments. EVE-NG gives you the ability to connect to a web UI rather than having to open an application like GNS3.This is a real plus and unlike GNS3, it doesn’t require that you save your configurations externally When devices are configured in EVE-NG you can save the configurations, power-off the devices and later return to them with the same configurations.EVE-NG gives you the ability to upgrade without having to re-install everything again, unfortunately GNS3 isn’t that clever.It’s rich feature-set and device support closely matches that offered by GNS3 and Virl, making it a strong contender for the go to simulator for creating virtual networks.Ī couple of weeks ago curiosity got the better of me while preparing my plan for the CCIE Security exam so I decided to revisit EVE-NG and see what it could offer me that GNS3 couldn’t. After completing these settings, click the Ok button on the Virtual Machine Settings Wizard. Now click on the Network Adapter tab, then choose the “Custom: Specific virtual network” radio button to select the VMnet10 (Host-only) virtual machine network. Set the ram size for your virtual machine, which is recommended to be equal to or more than 2 GB, and set the Number of processors to 2 as well. Now click on the Edit Virtual Machine settings option on the main window of the VMware Workstation. As you can see, GNS3 VM is the name of our VM in the following image. Now set the name & location for the new Virtual machine and click on the Import button. Click on the File tab at the upper left corner and select the Open option to choose the GNS3 VM ISO file from your system. Run VMware Workstation as an administrator. Step 2 Import GNS3 Virtual Machine into VMware Workstation: It is used to connect GNS3 with GNS3 VM on VMware. Add the new Host-only VMnet10 to bridge the VMware virtual machine into the GNS3 topology. Run Virtual Network Editor as an administrator.
